Amber Miller is the manager of patient safety and infection prevention for Exempla Lutheran Medical Center, Wheat Ridge, Colorado. In this role, she manages the functions of patient safety and infection prevention initiatives throughout the hospital. Exempla Lutheran Medical Center uses Lean Methodology to meet the needs of our patients, staff and physicians focusing on the four P’s- philosophy, process, people and partners, and problem solving. Lean is deployed in the organization through Value Stream Analysis, Rapid Improvement events, and A3 problem Solving.
Miller has 13 years experience in health care with 10 years as a Certified Infection Control nurse. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Wyoming, a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health Education from University of Northern Colorado and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Front Range Community College.
In addition to her certification in infection control, Miller has completed the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Training Course in healthcare epidemiology and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Patient Safety Officer Executive Development Program. Miller is a member of the national and local chapters of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and an advisor for the Colorado Health Facility Acquired Infection Bill (§ 25-3-601 C.R.S.).
Miller has written or presented professional abstracts on Marburg Hemorrhagic Fever and Infection Control Issues in Human Allograft Bone and Tissue.
