Lakshmi K. Halasymani, M.D., is Vice President for Quality and Systems Improvement at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. She has extensive experience in quality improvement efforts and is a Six Sigma Black Belt. Dr. Halasymani has used this training to improve clinical care in the areas of heart failure, care coordination and care transitions. In addition, Dr. Halasymani continues to work clinically as an academic hospitalist.
Dr. Halasymani is currently the Secretary of the Society of Hospital Medicine, and is a past chair and current member chair of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Quality and Patient Safety Committee. Through these roles she has led a variety of task forces and sub-groups targeted at improving care across the continuum. She has published several peer-reviewed articles and written several book chapters related to hospital medicine and quality improvement and patient safety.
Dr. Halasymani attended Harvard Medical School and completed a residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
