Donny C. Lambeth is president and COO of North Carolina Baptist Hospital, the teaching hospital of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Lambeth began his career at the hospital 37 years ago and became chief financial officer in 1988, chief operating officer in 1999 and president in 2008.
Lambeth is focused on building and sustaining a culture of excellence in quality patient care.
Under his leadership, the Medical Center has been a front-runner in adopting best practices for patient safety.
These include the introduction in 2004 of rapid response teams utilizing intensive care nurses who bring the resources of the intensive care unit to patients wherever they are in the hospital.
Lambeth championed the hospital-wide introduction and implementation of barcode medication administration, as well as quality performance scorecards for continual performance monitoring and improvement.
He also led the Medical Center to become a national leader in patient satisfaction as measured by Press Ganey and Associates.
Lambeth earned his bachelor’s degree from High Point University and his M.B.A. from Wake Forest University.
He has been honored regionally as a "Health Care Hero" for his work at the Medical Center.
