Perfecting the basics helps healthcare fight the unexpected

Studies show health care workers wash their hands 50 percent less than they should – a significant contributor to the nearly 700,000 patients who catch a hospital-related infection each year. Organizations must examine their systems to identify root causes, such as workloads that render workers’ hands full and inaccessible both literally and figuratively and the location of sinks and hand dispensers, to implement solutions and commit to zero harm.
