Leading the Way to Zero Harm
Our Mission
To transform health care into a high-reliability industry by developing highly effective, durable solutions to health care’s most critical safety and quality problems in collaboration with health care organizations, by disseminating the solutions widely, and by facilitating their adoption.
Our History
Created in 2008, the Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare aims to help health care organizations reach zero harm through high reliability science. The Center partners with health care organizations to help them build and strengthen their own systems and structures to support transformation to high reliability. This involves helping clinicians improve processes that result in better outcomes, training staff to lead improvement projects, mentoring leaders as they create vibrant improvement, safety cultures, and more.
Through working closely with health care organizations at every stage of the high reliability journey, the Center has made significant advances in quality and safety. We continue to help health care providers achieve better, more enduring results that lead the way to zero harm.
